Common Questions
After a
Car Accident
Most car accident cases settle without ever going to court.
You pay nothing upfront. For every car accident case I handle that is resolved through settlement without filing a lawsuit, my attorney fee is 25% of the recovery. I do not charge by the hour, and I do not receive an attorney fee unless money is recovered for you.
Case costs, medical bills, liens, and other accident-related obligations may also need to be paid from a settlement. Before you hire me (and before you agree to any settlement) I will explain the numbers clearly so you understand what to expect.
It’s common for insurance adjusters to contact people shortly after an accident. Before giving detailed statements, it’s often helpful to understand your rights and options.
Once a settlement is reached, I will review the numbers with you before any money is distributed.
The full settlement amount is not always the same as the amount you take home. From the settlement, there may be attorney fees, case costs, medical bills, health-insurance liens, hospital liens, or other accident-related obligations that need to be resolved.
For every car accident case I handle that is resolved through settlement without filing a lawsuit, my attorney fee is 25% of the recovery. I do not charge by the hour, and I do not receive an attorney fee unless money is recovered for you.
If your case cannot be resolved through settlement and needs to move into a lawsuit, I will talk with you about your options before anything changes.
Before you agree to settle, I will explain the proposed settlement, what needs to be paid, and the estimated amount you would receive. You should never feel pressured to accept a settlement without understanding where the money is going.
Once everything is resolved, the remaining balance is your net recovery.
