Helping Clients Across Eastern North Carolina

One car accident changed everything.

Maybe it happened on Highway 70. Maybe Highway 24. Maybe a road you’ve driven on a hundred times.

Now you’re hurting. Your car is totaled or sitting in a lot somewhere. The insurance company is already calling. The medical bills are starting to stack up, ambulance, ER, radiology, physicians, all from different places, all adding up fast.

You’re trying to keep up with work. You’re trying not to worry your family. And somewhere in the middle of all of it, you’re supposed to figure out what to do next.

That’s a lot to carry on your own.

Hello, I'm Lila Swann.

I’m an Eastern North Carolina attorney and I help people in Carteret, Craven, and Pamlico Counties get through the hardest part of what comes after a car accident.

Not with a big office downtown. Not with a phone tree. Just me speaking with you directly, figuring out where you stand, and helping you make smart decisions without adding more chaos to your life.

I’ve seen what happens when people try to handle this alone. I’ve also seen what happens when someone finally has a person in their corner helping.

There’s a real difference.

A Real Conversation

Making that first call after a car accident isn’t always easy.

You may be dealing with injuries, vehicle damage, insurance calls, and a lot of uncertainty about what happens next.

When you reach out to Swann Law, you’ll communicate directly with me,Lila Swann. The goal is simple: listen, understand what you’re going through, and help you make informed decisions about your situation.

Here's How It Works

Working together is straightforward.

  1. Text Me.

In your text, tell me your name and when a convenient time would be for a free phone call. During the call you’ll tell me what happened and how the accident has affected you. No forms. No office visit. No pressure. Just a real conversation about your situation.

  2. We’ll Decide Together if it’s a Good Fit.

At the end of our conversation, if I think I can help you and you want me in your corner, I’ll send you a simple questionnaire and an engagement letter. Both handled from your phone or computer.

  3. We Move Forward Together

If I can help you, I will. I’ll handle the insurance company, gather your records, document everything, and work toward a resolution that covers your bills, your lost wages, your pain and suffering. You focus on getting better and getting back to your life.

Throughout this entire process you communicate with me, your attorney, rather than being passed between staff members.

Clear Fees. Clear Answers.
No Mystery About Where Settlement Money Goes.

After a car accident, people are often shown a big settlement number and left to wonder what they actually take home.

I believe you deserve a clear answer.

For every car accident case I handle that is resolved through settlement without filing a lawsuit, my attorney fee is 25% of the recovery.

I do not charge by the hour. I do not get paid unless money is recovered for you.

I charge 25% because I built my firm differently.

I do not maintain a large brick-and-mortar office. I use secure technology to handle cases efficiently. I intentionally keep my caseload low so every client works directly with me, rather than being passed through a large staff or a high-volume case system.

That keeps my overhead lower without sacrificing personal attention.

I believe a more efficient law firm should benefit the people going through the difficult time, not just the law firm.

How Settlement Money
Is Usually Distributed

When a settlement is reached, the full settlement amount does not automatically become the amount a client takes home.

Before funds are distributed, the settlement may need to cover:

  • My 25% attorney fee
  • Case costs, such as records, reports, or other expenses needed to handle the case
  • Medical bills, health-insurance liens, etc.
  • Other accident-related bills or obligations connected to your case

After those amounts are handled, the remaining balance is your net recovery.

Every case is different. Before you hire me, I will explain my fee agreement in plain English, including how costs are handled. And before any settlement money is distributed, I will review the numbers with you so you understand where the money is going.

Common Questions
After a
Car Accident

Not every accident requires an attorney. However, if you were injured and receiving medical treatment, it can be helpful to have guidance through the insurance process.

Insurance companies handle claims every day. Having an attorney involved helps ensure the claim is properly documented and that settlement discussions are handled carefully.

Most car accident cases are resolved through settlement discussions with the insurance company long before anyone has to step into a courtroom.

If the insurance company refuses to offer a fair resolution, we can discuss your options together. The decision about whether to move forward with a lawsuit is always yours.

Every case is different. The timeline often depends on how long medical treatment lasts and how complex the insurance negotiations become.

Depending on the facts of your case, your case may settle in a few months, or it may take longer. It’s important not to rush the process before the full impact of the injuries are understood.

Yes.

Before you agree to settle your case, I will explain the proposed settlement, my 25% attorney fee, case costs, medical bills or liens that need to be addressed, and the estimated amount you would receive.

You should never feel pressured to accept a settlement without understanding the numbers.

My job is to make sure you have clear information so you can make the decision that is right for you.
